Saturday afternoon, our ALB Sir Max Aitken III, was tasked at 14:45 to assist a 44’ vessel experiencing engine difficulties south of La Moye Point.
A local vessel had already responded to the call for help and commenced a tow, though progress was limited against the prevailing conditions. On arrival, two JLA crew members were placed aboard the casualty vessel to assist with taking over the tow.
After establishing a secure tow, the decision was made to head east, making use of the now flooding tide to provide a helpful push towards safer waters. Both occupants of the casualty vessel were wearing the appropriate safety gear throughout.
Sir Max was alongside with the casualty vessel at 16:50 and returned to berth shortly after, standing by for any further tasking.
Our thanks go to the local vessel who provided valuable initial assistance and demonstrated excellent seamanship in coming to the aid of a fellow mariner.
Your lives, your crew, your boats.
