A solid day of training for the crews of Sir Max Aitken and Albert Pinel. This morning saw both boats working with salvage pumps, including transferring pumps between vessels — an essential skill in emergency scenarios. You may have spotted Sir Max towing Albert Pinel in St Aubin’s Bay, part of a training exercise for the ALB crew to practise towing while managing water ingress.
Later in the day, Albert Pinel headed to the north coast to train alongside our search and rescue partners from Channel Island Air Search. These joint exercises not only help us refine our own drills, but also build the teamwork and interoperability needed when real-life emergencies call.
As always, our work is made possible by a dedicated team of volunteers — from the council through to the crew — and 100% of our operations are funded by public support. We’re proud to serve the island and its community, ensuring our crews are ready to respond around the clock.
With thanks to Jersey Coastguard and Channel Island Air Search for this afternoon’s joint training.
