Incident De-Brief – Saturday 1st August

At 18:21 on Saturday evening (1st August), Jersey Coastguard requested the immediate launch of Albert Pinel in response to a late arrival of a swimmer in the West Park area.

At 18:38, with a volunteer crew of four onboard, Albert Pinel slipped her berth and proceeded outbound. However, whilst exiting the harbour, the ILB received a new tasking from Jersey Coastguard to a separate incident after a commercial passenger vessel, Tarifa Jet, returning from St Malo had a passenger aboard who had become unconscious and needed immediate assistance. Albert Pinel quickly responded and proceeded with haste to the new tasking south east of Demi de Pas where the Tarifa Jet was located. Whilst approaching the location Jersey Coastguard contacted the Albert Pinel to stand her down as the casualty aboard had recovered consciousness. Albert Pinel stood by and confirmed that the passenger did not need further assistance and turned round to proceed back to St Helier.

It was undoubtedly an extremely busy period for Jersey Coastguard, with separate incidents occurring in quick succession. Sunday evening, our crew mobilised alongside fellow search and rescue partners who were launched but subsequently stood down, a good all round team effort!

With Albert Pinel washed down, refuelled and made ready for service once again, it was finally home time for our volunteer crew to enjoy the remainder of the evening.
