JLA has a busy night

On Sunday evening, Sir Max Aitken was tasked to escort a French flagged yacht from around the Violet Buoy suffering with engine issues.

On arrival, it was found that the vessel was not making any head way against the tide and migrating rather quickly into the reef toward La Rocque.

Sir Max quickly initiated a tow back to st Helier.

When approaching St Helier, JLA’s Albert Pinel had been tasked to assist in checking on the welfare of a paddle boarder seen south of La Platte beacon. Albert Pinel rushed into action utilising night vision and thermal imaging. Sir Max had been placed on standby and quickly joined the search from Dog’s Nest through to Green island.

Members of the Air Rescue drone team (tag please) were also scrambled to thermally scan the Greve D’azette area.

Jersey Coastguard (tag please) stood all SAR assets down at approximately 23:00.
