We will be holding a naming ceremony for our rib: Albert “Bertie” Pinel at 1.45pm on Saturday 4th May. You are cordially invited to join us for this amazing celebration!
We’ll be holding the ceremony on pontoon 5, Albert Quay, in the presence of His Excellency, Jerry Kyd: Lieutenant-Governor.
The boat naming ceremony is a nautical tradition that’s thousands of years old. In fact, virtually every seagoing culture has adopted its own version of a boat naming ceremony. Not surprisingly, the ancient Greeks and Romans had elaborate boat-christening rituals that turned into extended parties. These festive events included plenty of toasts, speeches, and prayers to the gods.
