Blessing of the Boats

Gorey Boat Owners Association and Gouray Church welcome you to attend the Gorey Boat Blessing 2024.

Being held at Gorey Harbour on Sunday 28th July – 11am, the blessing will be a giving of thanks for all of the Search and Rescue Lifeboats and Air Search Planes, with visitors from France as well as our local SAR teams. The event will again be held on the Pier between the crane and the turning area near the fuel pontoon.

The service will begin at 11.00am and will include a fly past of the Channel Island Air Search Team and a prayer for the SARS crews as well as hymns, the boat blessing and a release of wreaths in honour of those who have lost their lives or loved ones at sea. This will be accompanied by music from The Jersey Salvation Army Band. We will also have some sea shanties from Jo Thorpe and Tom Oxenham.
