Today, the Jersey Lifeboat Association says farewell to one of our long-serving and valued crew members, Steve, who is retiring from service and moving to France with his partner, Kasia.
Steve has been part of the JLA almost since its inception in 2019, serving as a mechanic with unwavering dedication and quiet professionalism. Whether on a shout or in the engine bay, Steve has always been there when we’ve needed him most.
Known affectionately among the crew for his calm, soothing Brummie accent and his steady presence under pressure, Steve is also famously an “electrowizard” with formidable knowledge of anything that makes sparks or carries current. When something electrical went wrong, Steve was the one you wanted nearby. There was always time for a proper brew and a moment of calm before getting the job done.
Steve, your contributions to the JLA have been immense. We’ll miss your humour, your knowledge, and your steady hand. You leave behind not just a role, but a legacy of support, kindness, and true seamanship.
From all of us at the JLA, thank you. Wishing you and Kasia all the very best as you begin your next chapter in France.
Your lives, your crew, your boats.
