📟 Albert Pinel INSHORE LIFEBOAT 📟
At 17:11 on Sunday, the JLA received a request to assemble the crew of our ILB, Albert Pinel, to assist a 15 metre sailing vessel which had experienced fuel issues and was unable to make it safely into harbour.
Albert Pinel launched on service at 17:28 and proceeded to the Diamond Buoy, where the casualty vessel had managed to anchor while awaiting assistance.
Shortly after arriving on scene, a tow was established and the sailing vessel was brought safely back into St Helier Harbour.
The conditions were fantastic, unless you were trying to sail, and Bertie made light work of the tow. Albert Pinel was back and finished by 18:30 after a short evening’s work.
The JLA would like to remind all vessel owners to check both fuel levels and fuel quality before heading out. Fortunately, the sailing vessel was well equipped and her crew well practised for when things go wrong, making the situation considerably easier to manage.
