Incident De-brief Sunday 26th July 2026

📟 LAUNCH INSHORE LIFEBOAT📟

At 20:10 yesterday evening (Sunday 26th July), Jersey Coastguard requested the immediate launch of Albert Pinel in response to a multi-agency incident at Greve de Lecq.

At 20:24, with a volunteer crew of four onboard, Albert Pinel, slipped her berth and proceeded outbound. However, whilst exiting the harbour, the ILB received a new tasking to a separate incident after a member of the public called Jersey Coastguard to report a vessel displaying a flashing light that appeared to be in difficulty between Havre des Pas and Grève d’Azette.

The ILB proceeded at best speed in breezy conditions, making the short passage around the southern end of the reclamation site before approaching the Havre des Pas area. Working closely with Jersey Coastguard, it was established that the reported light had already been passed by the lifeboat. Following further vectoring, it became evident that the flashing light was in fact sunlight reflecting from the solar panels mounted on a data buoy in the area.

The incident was subsequently classified as a call with good intent and, with the initial incident at Greve de Lecq also having been safely resolved, the lifeboat was stood down and returned to station.

It was undoubtedly an extremely busy period for Jersey Coastguard, with multiple incidents occurring in quick succession. This evening our crew mobilised alongside fellow search and rescue partners from St Catherine’s RNLI, Jersey Fire & Rescue, States of Jersey Police and Drone Rescue, a real team effort!

With Albert Pinel washed down, refuelled and made ready for service once again, it was finally home time for our volunteer crew to enjoy the remainder of the weekend.
