Joint Exercise

Yesterday, our crews took part in a large-scale joint exercise alongside our French counterparts – including the SNSM, Dragon 50 helicopter, H160 helicopter from Cherbourg, and the French Navy’s fixed-wing Falcon 50.

The exercise scenario involved a “downed commercial aircraft” with survivors reported in the water in the area between NE Minquiers and North Chausey. After an extensive search, the exercise liferaft was located and the dummy survivor recovered and transferred to a French all-weather lifeboat.

These exercises are vital in maintaining our operational readiness and strengthening the excellent working relationships we share with our French Search and Rescue partners.

Shortly before the exercise began, our inshore lifeboat Albert Pinel was launched to reports of an unmanned kayak near Belcroute. While the cause may have seemed obvious given the extremely high tide, every incident is treated seriously until it can be confirmed that no one is in danger

With thanks to Jersey Coastguard SNSM Granville Chausey and others for taking part.
