A busy day for the JLA

Saturday morning, the JLA crew set off at 06:00 to support the Jersey France Challenge, a 14‑mile community relay swim from La Coupe (Fliquet Bay) to Carteret, France, raising funds for Dementia Jersey. We’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the organisers — Simon O’Donoghue, RaceNation, 3D Events, Dickinson Gleeson, and Axal Leine Recruitment — for delivering such a well‑run and inspiring event. Your dedication brings the island together and benefits a fantastic cause.

Upon arrival back to berth, our pagers went off: a French vessel had become entangled in rope near St Helier and required towing. A huge thank you to the local boat that stood by while Sir Max arrived to assist. The vessel was brought safely back to harbour.

As Sir Max was completing the tow, a second call came in from a vessel experiencing electrical issues in Beauport. The crew made a prompt turnaround, arriving quickly and resolving the fault on scene. Thanks to the equipment we routinely carry onboard, including a jump pack, the vessel was soon safely on her way back to St Helier under her own power.

All of this while our brilliant fundraising team were flying the flag for the JLA at the Havre des Pas Festival — raising awareness, chatting with the public, and keeping the lifeboat spirit alive on land.

Another day that reflects the heart of the JLA: readiness, community, and commitment – afloat and ashore.
