Part 3: Charge your batteries

The colder and shorter days don’t have to mean hanging up your sailing gear. With a few simple precautions, there’s no reason why you can’t enjoy the water. Just make sure you stay safe whilst doing it, by following our handy tips:

When you start a diesel engine from cold in the cooler months, it will need more power than it does in the warmer summer months. It’s therefore worth making sure that your batteries are fully charged – either by taking them home for a charge periodically, or by using a small solar panel.
