Winter Sailing Tips Part 1

Winter sailing – how to keep safe.

Part 1. Keep your fuel tanks topped-up.

The colder and shorter days don’t have to mean hanging up your sailing gear. With a few simple precautions, there’s no reason why you can’t enjoy the water. Just make sure you stay safe whilst doing it, by following our handy tips:

Make sure that your tanks are full with fuel and water as often as possible during the winter months. The reduced demand and inclement weather can make it harder to fill up. It can also reduce condensation in your fuel tank, as a full tank reduces the empty surface area where it can form, therefore reducing the chance of diesel bug forming.

You can also add an anti-diesel-bug additive (learn more).
