Tuesday evening saw our All Weather Lifeboat, Sir Max Aitken III tasked by Jersey Coastguard to a 25~tonne motor vessel with a family of 4 onboard, 2nm North West of Corbiere Lighthouse suffering with engine issues.
Sir Max departed her berth in good time and made way to the casualty vessel’s location. On scene conditions were interesting, with a fresh F5 from the West with a decent rolling swell & outgoing tide.
Due to the vessel’s size, sea condition and to assist the persons on board, the decision was taken to ‘tack’ coming around Corbiere in toward Noirmont.
Sir Max arrived safely back at St Helier with the casualty vessel at 19:22 before returning to berth, washed down & made ready for next service.
We would like to praise the crew of the casualty vessel for their preparedness in wearing lifejackets & having a second means of communication.
Your lives, your crew, your boats.
