SHOUTS 21st – 23rd August 2025

Four launches in four days for the JLA

On 21st August, at 08:25, our Inshore lifeboat (ILB) Albert Pinel launched following a Mayday DSC from the Minquiers area. Contact was made with the casualty vessel, and the RNLI’s George Sullivan was tasked to tow her to safety. With the situation in hand, Albert Pinel was back at station by 08:45.

Later that evening, at 22:55, our All Weather lifeboat (ALB) Sir Max Aitken was tasked to assist a yacht south of the Silettes. With no wind and a fouled propeller leaving her unable to make headway, the vessel was taken under tow in calm seas and brought safely back to St Helier. Crews were all back alongside and reverting to pagers just before 02:00.

On 22nd August, at 15:34, Albert Pinel launched following reports of a fisherman swept from rocks in St Ouen’s Bay. Both St Helier ILB and ourselves were tasked, but by 15:43 we were stood down after the person was confirmed safe and well.

On 23rd August, at 18:30, Albert Pinel launched once again following an alert with good intent after two persons were reported on the rocks in Portelet Bay. The situation was quickly clarified and the lifeboat was stood down at 18:56. With the bank holiday weekend upon us, please stay safe on or in the water. In the event of an emergency, dial 999 and ask for Jersey Coastguard. The JLA remains ready to respond, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Please donate today Your lives, your crew, your boats.
