SHOUT 4th September 2025

Yesterday evening (Thursday 4th September) having just completed scheduled maintenance sea trials, the JLA received an immediate launch request from Jersey Coastguard for 5 kayakers in difficulty at Noirmont Point with 1 kayaker in the water.

With a SAR crew already onboard washing down, our Inshore Lifeboat (ILB) ‘Albert Pinel’ was immediately launched & proceeded at best speed into difficult sea conditions towards the casualties last reported position.

Arriving on scene just 4 minutes later, the crew found 2 persons self-recovering onto rocks at Noirmont Tower & 3 kayakers still afloat.

After confirming the two persons ashore were safe and uninjured, the ILB crew made the decision to escort the remaining three kayakers back towards their launch point at Belcroute, while Jersey Fire & Rescue provided assistance from the shore.

This was a fast-paced, multi-agency incident carried out in testing conditions, but thanks to quick responses and effective teamwork, it resulted in a positive outcome for all involved.

We would like to commend the kayaking group for being well-prepared and properly equipped with essential safety gear, including lifejackets and helmets; which played a key role in ensuring everyone’s safety.

If you see anyone in difficulty at sea, call 999 and ask for Coastguard.

The JLA remains ready to respond, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
