Yesterday (Sunday 13th July) the Jersey Lifeboat Associations’ ILB (Albert Pinel) was tasked to assist a drifting vessel with engine issues.
During our Sunday morning training exercise our ILB (Albert Pinel) was tasked at 10:06am by Jersey Coastguard to assist a 9m vessel suffering engine issues & drifting Approx 6 miles South West of St Helier. With our crew already onboard the boats conducting shore training they quickly pivoted into action with the ILB launching on service within a few minutes.
After receiving the latest position from Jersey Coastguard our ILB quickly located the casualty vessel, conducted a welfare check on its occupants & established a tow back to St Helier.
Upon arrival into St Helier the casualty vessel was berthed safely alongside & the ILB returned to station, washed down & made ready for its next service.
This incident highlights our crews unwavering dedication to not only their extensive training schedule but the many additional hours spent on the water assisting our island community
Your lives, your crew, your boats.
