It is with great pleasure that we can now formally announce that the Jersey Lifeboat Association has now been officially re-declared as a SAR Facility in Jersey. This follows the well-documented freezing of our services in December 2021.
The process for the re-declaration has comprised of a 2-part audit process, undertaken by the Jersey Coastguard and with senior members of His Majesty’s Coastguard observing. It has been confirmed that the JLA have now met the requirements of the Declared Facility Framework, as set out by the Jersey Coastguard & the Maritime and Coastguard agency of the UK.
We would like to praise our crew who have worked closely and collaboratively with Jersey Coastguard to achieve this. We currently have twenty nine fully trained crew members whom have a wealth of experience in local and International waters. This is backed up and supported by a board of experienced trustees and a massive group of fundraisers and supporters. The crews dedication for ensuring safety at sea was noted and documented and is quantified by being passed as First Responders. We should also highlight that our Rib is the most advanced RIB of any SAR asset in the UK plus we have heat seeking technologies and Defibrillators on both boats which is once again highlights quite unique capabilities and once again verifies the level of experience and commitment of both JLA crews. We look forward to resuming operations and working with the Jersey Coastguard, Harbour Authority, and the entire SAR community.
