It was a beautiful day to be by the water. The sun shone and we were honoured to welcome our Lieutenant-Governor: His Excellency Vice Admiral Jerry Kyd CBE, the Bailiff Tim Le Cocq and the Reverend Geoff Houghton to our naming ceremony for Albert Pinel – our inshore rib.
After speeches from our Chairman – Simon O’Donoghue, His Excellency Jerry Kyd gave an inspirational speech, followed by a moving and heartfelt blessing from Reverend Houghton, with prayers for the safety of the crew whilst they performed their duties saving lives at sea.
It was great to have so many supporters join us for this event, and especially the grandchildren of Terry Goddard who donated the boat in honour of his fishing buddy Albert Pinel.
Terry’s daughter Sarah was in attendance at the blessing.
The Lieutenant-Governor was especially keen to view the boat as it is the same model used by the SBS, the special forces unit of the United Kingdom’s Navy. He was also involved in the purchase of the boat.
A big thank you to everyone involved and everyone who came to see the JLA at Jersey Boat Show. Your support means the world to us, and helps us to keep saving lives at sea.
Your Lives, Your Crew Your Boat.
