The planes had the sky covered, we had the sea.
Whilst the crowds enjoyed Thursday’s Air Display, our crew were on guard boat duty, stationed in Belcroute Bay and sheltering from the gusty winds whilst keeping a close eye on the water.
Midway through the afternoon, Jersey Coastguard tasked us to investigate reports of an upturned kayak near Kaines Reef. After a lively dash through the seas off Noirmont and several search legs, it was thankfully confirmed that there was no kayak in difficulty.
With the “all clear” given, we returned to St Helier for a wash down and were soon back on standby. Always ready for take-off when the call comes in.
Thank you to Graeme Delanoe for the photos and the company!
Your lives, your crew, your boats.
