Incident De-Brief – Sunday 2nd August

At 21:11 on Sunday evening, Jersey Coastguard paged our volunteer crew requesting the immediate launch of Albert Pinel in response to multiple incidents in St Ouen’s Bay.

The most critical report concerned a person who had entered the water near the Watersplash after dark and was last seen drifting north in the fading light. A second incident involved reports of people at Rocco Tower who were possibly cut off by the tide, with one additional person also believed to be in the water.

Shortly before 21:24, with a volunteer crew of four on board, Albert Pinel slipped her berth and proceeded west at best speed. While departing the harbour, updated information confirmed that the incident at the Watersplash had been resolved and the casualty was safely ashore, allowing the crew to focus their attention on the ongoing incident at Rocco Tower.

Arriving on scene just nine minutes later, Albert Pinel assisted Jersey Fire & Rescue, who had arrived shortly beforehand. The lifeboat was subsequently stood down once the situation had been resolved. No further information is available regarding this incident.

Albert Pinel returned to St Helier, arriving back alongside at 22:45, where she was washed down, refuelled, and made ready for service once again.
